The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) was founded in 1950 by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, independent India’s first Education Minister. Its objectives are to actively participate in the formulation and implementation of policies and programs pertaining to India’s external cultural relations; to foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and other countries; to promote cultural exchanges with other countries and people; and to develop relations with nations.

  • To be eligible for the ICCR Scholarship 2024, you must fulfil the following criteria:
  • You must be a citizen of one of the eligible countries and have a valid passport.
  • You must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old.
  • You must have completed the required level of education for the course you are applying for and have a minimum GPA of 60% or equivalent.
  • You must have a good command of English and have a minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS or 90 in TOEFL or equivalent.
  • You must not have any serious medical condition or infectious disease.
  • You must not be already studying or working in India.
  • You must abide by the rules and regulations of ICCR, the university, and the Indian government.

The ICCR Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship that covers numerous amounts/benefits for international students pursuing their studies in India. It includes the following:

  • Full tuition fees
  • Monthly stipend of INR 18,000 (for UG students), INR 20,000 (for PG students), and INR 22,000 (for M.Phil and PhD students).
  • Contingent grant of INR 5,000 per annum (for UG students), INR 7,000 per annum (for PG students), and INR 12,500 per annum (for M.Phil and PhD students).

To apply for the ICCR Scholarship 2024, you must follow the steps given below:

  1. Visit the Admission to Alumni (A2A) Portal, which is the online portal for ICCR Scholarship application and management.
  2. Register yourself as an applicant and fill in the online application form with your personal, academic, and course details.
  3. Choose up to 5 universities and courses from the list of universities/institutes empanelled with ICCR and rank them according to your preference.
  4. Upload the required documents, such as passport, academic transcripts, English proficiency test scores, recommendation letters, personal statement, resume, etc.
  5. Submit your application and wait for the confirmation email from ICCR.
  6. Check the status of your application on the A2A Portal and follow the instructions from ICCR or the Indian Embassy/High Commission in your country125.
  7. If you are selected, accept the offer and prepare for your visa, travel, and arrival in India.

As an international student, you must have the following documents ready before applying for ICCR Scholarship:

  • A recent passport-size photograph (3.5×4.5cm (25kb)) has a white background and without spectacles.
  • Copies of all academic transcripts.
  • A certificate of physical fitness in the prescribed form.
  • Recommendations/character certificates from existing school/University etc.
  • Certified copies of the candidate’s valid passport showing details like photograph, name, contact details, etc.
  • English language proficiency test scores.
  • 1-2 years of work experience in the human and community service industry (preferred but not mandatory).
  • 1-2 letters of recommendation from academic or professional referees.
  • A personal statement.
  • An updated resume or CV.
  • Synopsis of the proposed area of research (for PhD courses).
  • Video/audio cassettes of students aspiring for performing arts (for art courses).
  • Certified proof that the candidate has not received an ICCR scholarship before, if applicable.
  • Student’s ID proof.
